FAQs

General

How does the revenue share work for the winning designs?

CultureLabel, as the main developer of Release1.0, will fund and handle the production of the product. The production of the products is planned for Q1 2009 and will enter our culture partner's shop and the CultureLabel.com platform in Q2 2009. Industry standards for design fees and shares are 3-10% of the wholesale price. We offer 7% to the winning designer - definitely a bonus for people who are not called Philip Starck or Marc Newson! The payment of the share will be made annually at the end of each calendar year. The artist also receives reporting on the amounts of products distributed and sold from our external distribution partner who handles shipping and billing.

Is there a rule saying that entries are limited to works not yet published or produced?

No. Any product which would be a great "new" product for the world of culture retail can win. Newly designed products are great but it could also be a product from another industry which is customized to make it fit in the culture world. All we ask is that you own the IP rights to any submissions you make.

What about credits and exhibition of the submissions?

Every product will always have the design credits communicated. On CultureLabel.com we will ensure direct association and crediting. Offline, our culture partners will aim to signpost the product. Our culture partners are also likely to use the submissions as the basis for a shop-based exhibition. If and when this occurs, we will contact you for hi-res files.

What is the deadline for submissions?

The closing date for entries is Monday 20 October 2008. Please make sure you get your ideas posted by the end of the day!

About the entry process

Is it possible to enter as a group?

Yes. When entering as a group please make sure to provide the name and contact details of the person representing the group in the entry form, and inform us that you are entering as a group.

How do I upload the images of my design?

Simply select a JPEG image when submitting/updating details of your product. At the moment, you can only upload one image per submission.

How many entries are allowed?

There is no limit on the number of entries. However, be sure to submit each entry one at a time.

Do I need to register to submit?

Yes. If you are not registred you cannot submit. See our privacy policy for details on what we will and won't do with your information.

What format does the image have to be?

There are no rules on the method used for entries (drawings, photographs, 3D sketches) as long as the work indicates measurements to facilitate the understanding of the final two or three-dimensional work and as long as they are within the required 25cm x 25cm x 25cm guidelines. However, works that fail to provide measurements and functionality may be excluded for consideration. The file must be a JPEG.

Can entries be faxed or mailed by post?

No. We only accept entries submitted through the form online at releaseonedotzero.com
